Florian Opitz

Florian Opitz, born in Saarbrücken in 1973, is a German documentary film director, author and journalist. Opitz studied history, psychology and English and American literature at the universities of Heidelberg and Cologne. Opitz has been making documentary films since 1998 and has already been awarded the Grimme Prize twice. He has developed and realised numerous documentaries for various German and European broadcasters, worked for various political magazines and has given seminars on documentary film as a guest lecturer at various universities. Florian Opitz's films deal with political, historical and social issues, including the films Der große Ausverkauf und Speed - Auf der Suche nach der verlorenen Zeit, as well as the documentary series Capital B - Wem gehört Berlin?
