Rocko Schamoni, THE HUNTER AND HIS MASTER
hanserblau - Novel - Hardcover - August 2021 - 288 pages
In the sixties, Joska Pintschovius meets the eccentric Heino Jaeger while working at the Helms Museum. Joska soon recognises his new friend as a highly acclaimed artist and voice imitator. He introduces Heino Jaeger to Hamburg's bubbling scene, gets him a radio show, protects him. Jaeger gets worshipped as "master" but in the end, he burns up because of his mental vulnerability. The combination of genius and madness fascinates the narrator Schamoni, who shows himself more personal and vulnerable than ever before in his exploration of this unbridled life beyond bourgeois moral concepts.
Schamoni approaches with sensitivity and humor the legendary artist Heino Jaeger
